📏 How to choose the right clothing size on Temu
How not to get the size wrong on Temu: which measurements to take, how to read a size chart in centimeters, what “runs small” in reviews means and when to size up.
The most common disappointment with clothes from Temu is not quality but size. Most sellers are from China, and their “M” may be our “S”. The good news: it's easy to get it right if you look at centimeters, not letters.
1. Take your measurements
You'll need a tape measure. Measure over your body, without clothes or in thin underwear, without pulling the tape tight:
- Chest — at the fullest point, tape horizontal.
- Waist — at the narrowest point.
- Hips — at the widest point.
- Foot length — for shoes: from heel to the longest toe, preferably in the evening when the foot swells slightly.
Write the numbers down — you'll need them for every purchase.
2. Open the product's size chart
On the Temu product page, there's a size chart link under the size selector. Switch it to centimeters and find the row where your measurements fall within the range. Important: check what is listed — body measurements or measurements of the garment itself. If it's the garment (e.g. sweater width), add some room for a loose fit.
3. Read what customers say about the fit
- Temu shows a poll: how many customers say the item is “true to size”, “runs small” or “runs large”. If a noticeable share say “runs small”, size up.
- In reviews, customers often give their height, weight and the size they took — the best hint.
- Look at customer photos: they show the real length and fit.
4. When to size up
- The item is oversized in the photos and you want the same loose look.
- The fabric doesn't stretch (thick cotton, denim, suit fabric).
- You plan to wear it over warm clothes — e.g. a sweater over a turtleneck or a jacket over a sweater.
- Your measurements are between two sizes.
5. Shoes
Compare your foot length with the “foot length” or “insole length” column. Add 0.5–1 cm to your foot length (for winter shoes with a warm sock — closer to 1 cm). The EU size in the chart is only a guide; centimeters are more reliable.
If it still doesn't fit
Request a return from the order in the Temu app: the terms for your item are in the “Return policy”. More in “Is it safe to buy on Temu”.
