✨ How to choose a garland on Temu: LED, battery or USB

How to choose a Christmas garland on Temu: LED or regular, mains, battery or USB power, outdoor garlands, length, modes and safety.

A garland is the easiest way to make your home festive. Temu has hundreds of them at nice prices. To make sure yours delights rather than disappoints, check a few things.

1. LED only

LED garlands barely get warm, use many times less power and last longer than old incandescent ones. Almost all garlands on Temu are LED, but check the title or specs.

2. Power: mains, batteries or USB

• Mains 220 V — for a big tree and long garlands. Check that the plug is European (EU) and the voltage is 220–240 V: some sellers offer US-plug variants.
• USB — the most versatile option in Ukraine: you can run the garland from a power bank during outages. More in “What to buy for power outages”.
• Batteries — for wreaths, jars, arrangements and spots without a socket. Check which batteries are needed (AA, AAA or coin cells) — they're often not included.

3. Indoor or outdoor

For a balcony, the outside of a window or a yard, you need a garland with moisture protection — look for IP44 or higher. Don't use a regular indoor garland outside.

4. Length, color and modes

• Length: a 1.5 m tree usually needs 10–15 m of garland, a 2 m tree 15–20 m. Check whether the stated length includes the lead wire or only the lit part.
• Color: warm white is cozy and classic; cool white is bright and festive; multicolor suits a kids' room and a fun mood.
• Modes and timer: twinkle, wave, fade; a 6-hour timer and a remote are very handy — the garland turns on by itself every evening.

5. Safety

• Read 1–3 star reviews: if several people say it stopped working within a week, look for another one.
• Don't leave a mains garland on overnight or when you leave home — or use a timer.
• Don't plug too many garlands into one socket and don't cover the power unit.
